What is Mold?
It can be generally defined as:
A mold is a device that produces identical parts within the limits of desired measurement accuracy and in the shortest time, helps to save material and to keep manpower to a minimum, thus minimizing labor costs and working with machine tools.
To explain by giving an example; It is a mechanical plane made of durable steel that is used in the mass production of products containing metal and plastic substances such as packaging, apparatus, machine parts, such as automobiles or industrially used, as well as technological devices such as mobile phones, wrist watches, television that we use daily.
The mold and mold industry, which people are mostly unaware of, forms the basis of technology and economy all over the world. Considering that all plastic and metal parts of products such as televisions, mobile phones and automobiles that we use constantly in daily life are realized with the help of molds, it will be easier to understand the importance of the mold and mold making industry.
What is Mold Design?
Briefly; is the design of molds through computer-aided professional software. The designer performs the design phase using the CAD program on the computer. CAD (computer aided design) is a software program used to help create, modify, analyze or optimize a design.
Mold designs start with incoming customer data. First of all, it is checked whether the data is suitable for mold making and the customer is informed. Then AutoCAD, Solidworks etc. mold starts to be modeled using computer aided design programs. After receiving approval from the customer, the mold design is transferred to the CAM (computer aided manufacturing) department.
After the mold design phase is completed, the mold production file is created. Then all CAM station programs are determined and transferred to the production manager. After that, all the lower parts of the mold are manufactured using advanced technology CNC machines.
Benefits of Using CAD (Computer Aided Design) in Mold Design
It saves time by making changes in drawings easier and faster. It allows for better quality drawings. It increases the design precision and minimizes the margin of error. It provides the opportunity to try more design options by drawing quickly at various scales. Makes work easier by making customer change requests easier and faster.
